About Me

I have been playing the guitar for as long as I can remember and I have always had a keen interest in anything musical.  I genuinely love teaching music and I feel privileged that I am able to pass my knowledge and enthusiasm on to other people.

I have been lucky enough to study guitar under great teachers such as Gary Boyle, Neil Smith and Mark Lea. I studied music at GCSE and A Level and I have a BA(hons) Degree in Popular Music and Recording from the University of Salford where I specialised in Performance and Composition.

I have been teaching guitar since 1991 and as a full time profession since 2002.  At present, I teach Guitar and Music in several schools around Lancashire and I also work for the Lancashire Music Service, as well as teaching privately. My interest in a broad variety of music and involvement in a number of diverse bands means I am able teach a wide range of musical styles and instruments.

When I'm not teaching, I love spending time with my young family. I am also a big football fan and I try to watch as many films and read as many books as is humanly possible!

"Michael is a first rate musician, a first rate teacher and more importantly a first rate bloke. I learn something new at every lesson."
